Recently, StartHub’s editor, Melissa Yee, had the pleasure of chatting with Ari Glantz, Program Manager of NEVCA, for an exclusive interview to get a picture of what people can expect from NEVY Awards this year!

StartHub: Please introduce yourself and your title.

Ari Glantz, Program Manager, NEVCA

StartHub: How many attendees do you generally receive? Where do they come from? What sectors?

About 1000 VCs, entrepreneurs, and startup community members from all over New England. Since we celebrate all startups and investors from all stages, across Tech and Life Science, it’s a pretty diverse crowd.

StartHub: What can attendees walk away with or how will this event change the conversation around tech?

We dive deep on the winners, and recognize different kinds of companies at different stages of growth, not to mention investors that might not be that well known yet. So, at the NEVYs you’ll learn something– but you’ll get a chance to see some pretty established people letting loose, having fun, and probably dressed up like a cowboy or cowgirl!

StartHub: What is the panel or speaker you are most excited about and why?

I’m excited about the Digital Health Category we’re featuring this year. It’s the first time we’ve had a specific Award for a Digital Health company, and really represents the rise of that sector and what it means to Boston to be a hub for it.

StartHub: What sets this conference apart from other tech conferences?

There will literally be a mechanical bull, right in the middle. Period.

StartHub: What will set this year’s NEVY Awards apart from previous years?

See above! But seriously, we’ve listed to our audience this year and have opened up the upstairs at the House of Blues for “Team Areas”, so if you want to come with a big group as a team building event , or to watch a category your company is nominated for, this year you have the option to do that all together, in your own area. (Plus there’s a dedicated bar up there 😉

StartHub: Are there any new components or features that attendees should look forward to this year?

I can’t believe how heavily I’m leaning on the mechanical bull… But again, we’ve got a Country-Western theme, some awesome new categories that reflect the changing landscape, and amazing nominees.

StartHub: Is there a way for non-attendees to follow the conversation? Twitter handle? Live feed?

We”ll have a lot of live tweeting with #NEVYs16, but no live feed is planned at this time.

StartHub: Who is the best contact for press if they wish to provide further coverage?

ME. Ari Glantz, [email protected]
